Master Bedroom

Picture
Master Bedroom Before:  We'll repaint all the walls.  Three will be a light neutral, one will be a darker neutral beige.  We'll be changing the window treatments.  I think we'll place the head of the bed where this dresser currently sits, but we'll see when we get our stuff in the space.

Master Bedroom Before:  This is the wall that we'll probably paint a darker neutral beige.  Our dresser will probably sit here too.  We debated replacing the carpet in here, but we're just going to get it cleaned and replace it later, if necessary.

Master Bedroom, Continued

Master Bedroom:  This is one of the only updated fixtures in the house!  We might look to this wood tone for inspiration on new bedroom furniture in the future.  I like this fan, and we're looking for a similar style in for the living room.

During:  How ya like that ugly yellowed shade??

Picture
During:  Including view of our new Craig's List bedroom furniture. It photographs well, but up close it shows some wear.

Work in progress:  Here's a little sneak peak of the master bedroom.  See those pillows I made??  Without anything on the walls, it still looks a little empty to me.  I'm not sold on those sheers as a long-term solution to my window covering woes, and I'm desperate to replace all the blinds in the house, but we've got to build up our savings again after this little new home spending spree on paint and flooring.

After:  Finally got something put up above the bed.  I actually bought this for $19 at Pier 1 a few months ago.  I had intended for it to go above the bed, but when I realized that it wouldn't fit "straight," I worried that it wouldn't look good.  Jud liked it, and when my mom was here, she gave it a second vote of confidence, so I decided to trust their judgement, and I really like the way it turned out.  Lights on either sid of the bed are ARSTID from IKEA, picture to the right of the window is a vintage arial view of the lake where my parents own land and cottages and where Jud and I spend our summers in Michigan.  The coverlet is from Williams Sonoma Home a few from 2007.  I never liked the color until we put it in this room, but I paid too much for it and couldn't admit to Jud that I didn't like it. ;-)

After:  I'm still not diggin' those window covering, but considering that the blue sheers were $3 each and the beige sheers are leftover from the apartment living room, I really can't complain about the costs.  Maybe we'll wait until we can also afford to replace those disgusting mini blinds.  Blech.  Black and white photograph on wall from Meijer for $19 in 2007.  Man, I miss Meijer.  I wish they were in Texas.

After:  Here's a little glimpse of the other corner.  This really shows off the two tones of blue.  That candlabra on the little wall was $.50 at a thrift store in Grand Rapids, Michigan, just off 28th street.  I wish I could remember the name of that place.  It always had a good selection at dirt cheap prices.  There's also a little sliver of a view into the dressing room.  I think I'll paint it the lighter blue some day, but I'm not looking forward to touching another paint bruch for a while.
